A Review of New Challenges of Teacher Education in Physical Education: A Meta – Analysis

A review of prior research and reports on the current status and developments of Physical Education on the international scenario propels the investigator to make a study on new challenges of Teacher – Education in Physical Education The present study aims at tracing out the recent trends of Physical Education existing worldwide, which are to be incorporated in teacher – training in Physical Education. The meta-analysis as a method of summarization of the results of prior research works has been taken up by the scholar. 11 remarkable studies have been meta-analyzed resulting in 35 issues of trends and challenges of TEPE. 19 issues are analyzed of which 9 ones are accentuated with respect to their scenario in practice in India. In going to meta-analyze the issues of challenge, Physical Education has been discovered as the subject of lucrative opportunities (a profitable profession).

A Comparative Study on Job Satisfaction between Physical Education Teachers and General Teachers

The aim of this study was to compare the Job satisfaction between physical education teachers and general teachers. Both male and female teachers were considered for this study having at least three years teaching experience, age above twenty seven years. Job satisfaction scale questionnaire was used for measuring the job satisfaction between physical education teacher and general teachers. For this purpose three hundred teachers were selected from four different districts in west Bengal. ‘t’ test statistic was applied to investigate the existence of significant difference between physical education teacher and general teachers.

Analyzing the Credit Based System in Physical Education

Professional course like Physical Education has become a real challenge to actually prepare for the adoption of choice based credit system (CBCS) and to present clear choices in and off the ground. One of the benefits of the CBCS is, teachers have a great deal of freedom to design their courses and students get total freedom to choose courses for their degree program. But when thinking with the mind of improving the field of physical education through the adoption of choice based credit system, some problems crops up and these problems must be critically analyzed. Changing the performance score into credits, Making of skilled calculation sheets, wide range of specialty, less faculty/infrastructure and ranging the credit system are some of the existing obstacles that must be overcome. There are lots of merits of this approach, but there is equally worry of the unpreparedness of the colleges/students to take full advantage of this opportunity. Every effort should be made to make the CBC system fair and transparent

Examining the Effects of Health-Related Physical Fitness Programs on Heart Rate of Secondary Students

The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of health- related physical fitness programmes that are covered in the academic programme of physical education department on the Heart rate of sedentary students. Twenty sedentary male students studying in different colleges of the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University Nanded, Maharashtra (India) had attended the study voluntarily the mean age of these students were 20.3 + 2.66, height were 172.33 + 5.99 cm. the weight were 69.29 + 4.01 Kg.Tests at the beginning of 2009-2010 academic year in this study, resting heart rate were taken from the sedentary students. The applied programme was planned for twelve weeks, 5 days a week and for 60 minutes a day, as the statistical techniques. Mean scores and standard division were take and paired t-test was applied. The significant effects on resting heart rate (t=4.44, p<.05) was found in sedentary students. According to the result, I conclude that health- related physical fitness programme in physical education department is academic programme.It is are not only beneficial to increase the cardio respiratory function and to improve physical fitness of sedentary students but also decrease the heart rate of students . The study provides a platform for further research in the field of physical education.

Comparative Study of Anthropometric Measurements and Body Composition among Individual and Team Game

The purpose of the study was to compare the Anthropometric measurements and Body Composition among Individual and Team Game. The subjects for this study were thirty male students, each from Soccer and Track and Field Intervarsity teams of Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, Gwalior. They were selected with the view of obtaining scores on selected Anthropometric measurements and Body Composition. The age of the subjects ranged between 18 to 25 years. The variables selected for the study under Anthropometric measurements were Standing Height, Sitting Height, Total Arm Length, Total Leg Length, Upper Arm Girth, Hand Girth, Thigh Girth, Calf Girth and Chest Girth while under Body Composition the variables under taken were body Weight, Percentage of Body Fat and Lean Body Mass. To determine the significant difference between the mean scores of subjects belonging to Soccer and Track and Field on Anthropometric measurements and Body Composition variables, the„t‟ ratio was employed. The level of significance chosen was 0.05. The results of the present study indicate that Soccer and Track and Field Athletes did not differ much on selected Anthropometric measurements and Body Composition; however a significant difference in Total Leg Length, Total Arm Length and Standing Height was obtained.

Movement Assessment of an Inclusive Case through Kinematic Technology

In order to provide benefit of the field to special people, the project was started under the guidance of specialists dealing with schools, organizations and clinics for the mentally challenged people. The project was mainly undertaken with the motive of implementing the subject of physical education on the special people (mentally retarded- border line case) and benefitting them. Specialized MOTION PRO and SIMI MACHIX software were used to analyze the movements of the subject.The main variables undertaken were:      i. Right knee bend angle during walk     ii. Left Knee bends during walking      iii. Right Ankle angle during walk      iv. Left Ankle angle during walk      v. Walking deviation from the starting point or walking line.      vi. Body Inclination while walking. It is concluded that some body movements are corrected through the proper implementation of Physical education.

Attitude of Postgraduate Students towards Teaching Profession

One of the chief objectives of education is the development of desirable attitude in the individuals. Attitudes are an expression of inner feelings and beliefs that the reflect whether a person is favourably or unfavourably pre-disposed to some phenomenon.Prime objevtives of the study were to know the attitude of Post Graduate students of Education and physical education towards teaching profession and to compare the significance of attitude of male and female subjects of P.G classes towards teaching profession. The sample was selected from two different states of India named. The investigator prepared 43 statements which were related to the attitude of students towards teaching profession. It was concluded that attitude of students studying in post graduate course of education and physical education in Tamil Nadu and Kerala have been found favorable to the teaching profession.It was also found that Male and female post graduate students differed with respect to their attitude towards teaching profession.
