Introduction

The International Journal of Behavioral Social and Movement Sciences (IJOBSMS) relies on the expertise, integrity, and professional judgment of qualified reviewers to maintain the quality and credibility of its publications. Peer review is an essential component of scholarly publishing and contributes significantly to ensuring the originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, and academic value of published research.

Reviewers are expected to conduct evaluations in a fair, objective, constructive, timely, and confidential manner while adhering to the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

Evaluate manuscripts objectively and independently.
Assess the originality, significance, and scholarly contribution of the research.
Examine the methodological soundness and scientific validity of the study.
Identify strengths, limitations, and areas requiring improvement.
Provide clear, constructive, and evidence-based feedback.
Assist editors in making informed editorial decisions.
Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, share, distribute, or use unpublished information contained within submitted manuscripts for personal, professional, or commercial purposes.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that may affect their ability to provide an impartial evaluation. Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • • Personal relationships with authors
  • • Institutional affiliations
  • • Financial interests
  • • Collaborative or competitive relationships

Reviewers with significant conflicts of interest should decline the review invitation and notify the Editorial Office promptly.

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are encouraged to assess manuscripts using the following criteria:

Originality and Contribution
  • • Does the manuscript present original research, ideas, or findings?
  • • Does it contribute meaningfully to existing knowledge in the field?
Relevance to the Journal
  • • Is the topic consistent with the aims and scope of IJOBSMS?
  • • Is the study relevant to the journal’s readership?
Literature Review
  • • Is the literature review current, relevant, and comprehensive?
  • • Are appropriate sources cited accurately?
Methodology
  • • Is the research design appropriate for the study objectives?
  • • Are the methods clearly described and scientifically sound?
Data Analysis and Interpretation
  • • Are the data analyzed appropriately?
  • • Are the results interpreted accurately and supported by evidence?
Ethical Compliance
  • • Does the study comply with applicable ethical standards?
  • • Have relevant ethical approvals and permissions been reported where required?
Presentation and Clarity
  • • Is the manuscript clearly written and logically organized?
  • • Are tables, figures, and references presented appropriately?
Reviewer Recommendations

Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

Accept
Accept with Minor Revisions
Major Revisions Required
Resubmit for Review
Reject

Reviewers should provide clear justification for their recommendations and offer constructive suggestions to support manuscript improvement whenever appropriate.

Timeliness Reviewers are encouraged to complete and submit their evaluations within the timeframe specified by the Editorial Office. If a reviewer is unable to complete the review within the requested period, the Editorial Office should be informed as soon as possible.
Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools To protect confidentiality and intellectual property rights, reviewers should not upload manuscripts or manuscript content to generative artificial intelligence platforms or third-party systems that may compromise confidentiality, data security, or author rights.
Ethical Responsibilities

Reviewers should report any concerns relating to:

Plagiarism
Duplicate publication
Data fabrication / falsification
Ethical misconduct
Undisclosed conflicts of interest

Any suspected misconduct should be communicated confidentially to the Editor-in-Chief or the Editorial Office.
