Authorship Policy

Introduction

The International Journal of Behavioral Social and Movement Sciences (IJOBSMS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, transparency, and accountability in authorship practices.

Authorship should be based on substantial intellectual contributions to the research and the preparation of the manuscript. The journal follows internationally recognized authorship principles and supports the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author, an individual should satisfy all of the following criteria:

Substantial Contribution The individual has made a significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation, or other essential aspects of the research.
Manuscript Preparation The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
Final Approval The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Accountability The individual agrees to be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the work and to cooperate in addressing any questions relating to the research.
Author Responsibilities

All authors are expected to:

  • Accept responsibility for the content of the manuscript.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the research.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Disclose relevant sources of funding.
  • Cooperate with editorial inquiries when necessary.
  • Comply with applicable ethical requirements for research involving human participants or animals.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the journal and the co-authors throughout the submission, peer review, and publication process. The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Managing communication with the Editorial Office.
  • Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript.
  • Confirming that all listed authors meet the journal’s authorship criteria.
  • Coordinating manuscript revisions and responses to reviewer comments.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of author information and affiliations.
Unacceptable Authorship Practices

The journal does not permit inappropriate authorship practices, including:

Guest Authorship Listing individuals as authors who have not made a significant contribution to the research.
Ghost Authorship Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript preparation.
Gift or Honorary Authorship Including individuals as authors solely because of their position, reputation, or personal relationship.
Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author and must include:

  • • A clear explanation for the requested change.
  • • Written confirmation from all authors agreeing to the change.

Requests for authorship changes after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.

IJOBSMS follows the authorship principles and ethical recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing.

Authorship Disclaimer Notice: Responsibility for the accuracy of author information, affiliations, contributions, and declarations rests with the authors. The journal reserves the right to investigate authorship disputes or concerns in accordance with its publication ethics policies and applicable COPE guidance.
