The growing cultural diversity within educational institutions has transformed the learning environment into a space where students from different linguistic, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds interact on a daily basis. While multicultural education provides opportunities for collaborative learning and global understanding, it also presents challenges related to communication, social integration, and emotional adaptation. Adaptive behavior and social adjustment are essential factors that influence students\' academic engagement, psychological well-being, and overall educational success. Students who effectively adapt to culturally diverse settings are more likely to develop positive peer relationships, participate actively in classroom activities, and demonstrate higher levels of academic achievement.
This study investigates the relationship between adaptive behavior and social adjustment among students studying in multicultural educational settings. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students from multicultural institutions. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 26 through descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis. The findings indicate that adaptive behavior positively influences students\' social adjustment, collaborative learning, intercultural communication, and classroom participation. Students with stronger adaptive skills demonstrated greater confidence in interacting with peers from diverse backgrounds and exhibited lower levels of social anxiety.
The study also identifies institutional support, inclusive teaching practices, and cultural awareness programs as significant contributors to successful adjustment. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering inclusive educational environments that encourage respect, empathy, and intercultural competence. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on multicultural education by providing empirical evidence that adaptive behavior serves as a critical determinant of students\' successful integration into diverse academic communities.
