Abstract

Personal health management has emerged as a fundamental component of modern healthcare, emphasizing individuals\' active participation in maintaining physical, mental, and social well-being through informed health-related decisions and preventive practices. The growing prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases, increasing healthcare costs, population aging, and changing behavioral patterns have highlighted the importance of effective self-care and health management strategies for achieving sustainable wellness outcomes. Personal health management integrates healthy lifestyle practices, preventive healthcare, health literacy, self-monitoring, stress management, balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and timely healthcare utilization to reduce disease risk and improve quality of life. The present study examines the role of personal health management in improving wellness outcomes by evaluating the major factors influencing self-care behaviors, assessing the effectiveness of preventive health strategies, identifying barriers to successful health management, and exploring future opportunities for strengthening sustainable wellness practices. A descriptive analytical approach was adopted through a comprehensive review and synthesis of recent peer-reviewed literature, public health reports, and evidence-based healthcare guidelines. The findings indicate that health literacy, healthy lifestyle behaviors, preventive healthcare, self-monitoring, digital health technologies, and supportive healthcare systems significantly improve long-term wellness outcomes. Individuals who actively engage in personal health management demonstrate better physical health, enhanced psychological well-being, reduced disease risk, improved healthcare utilization, and greater quality of life. However, socioeconomic disparities, limited health literacy, unhealthy lifestyle habits, digital inequalities, and inadequate preventive healthcare continue to limit effective health management among many populations. The study concludes that strengthening health education, promoting preventive healthcare, encouraging healthy behavioral practices, and integrating digital health technologies into personal health management are essential for achieving sustainable wellness outcomes. These findings provide valuable guidance for healthcare professionals, researchers, public health practitioners, and policymakers seeking to strengthen self-care and long-term health promotion.
